Jewel and her soon-to-be ex-husband, Ty Murray, have jointly announced
their upcoming divorce. The couple has been together for 16 years, married
for six and have one young son together. They made the announcement on
Jewel’s blog, so that -- according to the singer-songwriter -- her
fans could find out from her directly rather than from the tabloids.
Jewel, who is now 40 years of age, married her professional bull-riding
boyfriend, Ty Murray, who is now 44 years of age, in 2008 after a 10-year
dating relationship. Jewel told her fans that she and her husband have
always worked toward living authentically, and now they have realized
their lives will be happier and better apart. She said that they were
breaking apart with love instead of malice.
Both Jewel and Ty went on to reiterate their commitment to raising their
son together and growing into their new roles as co-parents and dear friends
rather than being spouses. A joint statement from the duo said that they
are unwaveringly dedicated to their son and being the best parents they
can be. They said that they felt a peaceful uncoupling with love was in
the best interest of their own personal growth as separate individuals
and to the future well-being of their son.
Very few Arizona spouses would disagree with the idea that a peaceful breakup
is always preferred to a contentious divorce. Those who feel that a peaceful
uncoupling is possible in their
divorce can take some important steps to achieve that goal during the legal process
of their separation. This is especially true during negotiations over
child support and child custody arrangements, and while finalizing their
asset division and divorce agreements. Employing the use of mediation
proceedings and other out-of-court settlement strategies can also be useful
to help Arizona couples achieve their goal of a peaceful and loving separation.
