Mariah Carey Serves Husband with Divorce Papers and More

Divorce in Arizona is usually fraught with emotions that can bubble over into an argument. It can mean extra time before the judge and can mean that you and your soon-to-be ex-spouse must air your dirty laundry in front of the court. If you are famous, that also means before the court of public opinion.

This is what happened to Mariah Carey and Nick Cannon. She is a famous singer, and he is the host of America's Got Talent. Carey has filed a document with the court to prevent Cannon from talking about any aspect of their divorce in public or to the media.

Carey, who is 44 years old, filed the confidentiality agreement because Cannon has made several comments to the media regarding their relationship that she wanted to keep private. He faces financial penalties if he doesn't comply with the contract.

It appears that the confidentiality agreement is one-sided. It is meant to protect Carey and prevents Cannon from discussing anything at all to do with the divorce.

It is understandable if you realize that the couple has two children, four-year-old twins. However, it isn't fair that the agreement may allow Carey to announce the details of the separation on her terms and on her timeline.

Connor, who is 33 years old, confirmed that the marriage is over. Although they married in 2008, it is apparent that the two have been living separate lives in different homes for the last several months.

Connor says that his main focus is on his children and that, while there may not be a marriage left, the two are still parents to the two kids. The divorce involves child custody and property settlement issues as well.

If you are contemplating a divorce, you may want to speak with a legal professional who knows the laws of Arizona and can assist you in receiving your fair share of any assets that you are entitled to.
